Ukes Go Bere is a weekend celebration of ukuleles, music, and community set against the stunning natural beauty of Bere Island. Open to all skill levels, the event blends ukulele workshops with drumming, bodhrán, and vocal masterclasses, all led by renowned professional musicians. It’s a chance to connect with fellow players, enhance your musical abilities, and soak in the relaxed island atmosphere.
The weekend kicks off with a Friday afternoon check-in, followed by a locally prepared BBQ and a cozy campfire session. Saturday features a full day of immersive workshops including percussion with Fergal O’Connor, vocal harmony with Dr. Eva McMullan and Eoin Coughlan, and ukulele tab techniques with Andrew Moran. Pat Barrett leads a ukulele ensemble to prepare for Sunday’s BrunchUlele. Participants can enjoy meals prepared by local chefs or explore dining options nearby.
Sunday begins with a village breakfast at The Bakehouse Café, followed by the lively BrunchUlele session. The day continues with a bodhrán workshop by Brian Morrissey and a final ukulele ensemble led by Moran. The festival culminates in an open-air concert at Wild Atlantic Glamping, featuring The Oars and a performance by the Ukes Go Bere ensemble.
Participants can stay in luxury glamping tents on-site or arrange their own accommodation. Hosted by Eva McMullan and a team of experienced musicians, the weekend promises music, fun, and the unforgettable charm of island life—all with a ukulele in hand.
