The KYukefest is a vibrant weekend of music, workshops, and community. It begins Friday evening with check-in and a welcome concert at Carver Gym, featuring performances by Jonathan and his Four String Fiasco, The Little Things Duo, and Aaron Baer. The night concludes with a curated open mic at the Clarion, offering a laid-back atmosphere with music, food, and drinks.
Saturday starts with check-in and the Ukulele Marketplace, followed by morning workshops tailored to all skill levels. Topics include strumming techniques, chord movement, and ukulele maintenance, led by talented instructors like Bing Futch, Jonathan Piercy, and Mim. After a flash mob performance downtown and lunch on their own, attendees can choose from more workshops in the afternoon, including fingerpicking, Taylor Swift-inspired arrangements, and blues techniques.
The day continues with another Ukulele Marketplace session and professional portraits before the evening concert at Carver Gym, featuring Mim’s Ukes, Bing Futch, and Del Rey. The festivities conclude with an afterparty and open mic at Goodfellas Pizza.
Sunday offers a final round of workshops, including jamming with old-time instruments, advanced fingerpicking, and mastering bar chords. The festival wraps up with a community “Karauke” session, inviting participants to take center stage and perform for an enthusiastic audience.
